Andrew Robert "Andy" Muirhead (born 1975) is an Australian radio and television presenter. Muirhead works for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation[1] and has most recently been hosting Collectors since 2005.[2]

CareerEdit

He has worked in TV and radio since 2004.[3] He has also done stand up comedy.[4] [5] [6][7] He represented Tasmania in the 2003 Raw Comedy National finals,[3] and appeared at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival from 2004.[8]

Personal lifeEdit

He was born in Sale, Victoria, and moved to Hobart, Tasmania with his family. He graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1998, and worked as a biologist for a forestry company doing insect and mammal surveys while also doing stand-up.[8][3][9] In June 2010 he went on unpaid leave and production of The Collectors was suspended when he was charged with one count of accessing child pornography. He was bailed to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on 2 August.[10][11] ABC took down The Collectors website and removed all online references to Muirhead. His lawyer Greg Barns has criticised ABC for failing to presume innocence.[12] [13]
