Cormyr, heart of the Heartlands, is a kingdom in the fictional fantasy setting of the Forgotten Realms. It is analogous to medieval Europe, particularly France; geographically, it is similar to Pennsylvania and Ontario[attribution needed]. Land of honor, strong rulers and valorous knights (the Purple Dragons); its late king, Azoun IV defeated the Tuigan hordes coming from the Endless Wastes.

Its Southwestern boundary is limited by the Bridge of Fallen Men and the city of Proskur.

From 1186 to 1227, the King of Cormyr was Dhalmass[1]. The current king of Cormyr is the infant Azoun V. Princess Alusair Nacacia Obarskyr will act as regent until Azoun V becomes fit to rule.

Strong by the sword, Cormyr also is by the staff. Vangerdahast was the leader of the War Wizards of Cormyr, before being injured in the Battle of Tilverton fought against the Shadovar.

It is secretly protected by two dragons, Vangerdahast (who sacrificed being human to become a guardian dragon) and his consort (A blue and silver scaled Song dragon), who both have been willingly bound through a spell created by Vangerdahast. They are presently in stasis and can be called upon by key words known by a select few.

In addition, Cormyr is also one of the few nations in the Realms which accepts the worship of Malar.
