Dogs (Call of Duty) is a feature in the Call of Duty series where attack dogs attack enemy players in an attempt to kill them. This feature is in the games Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War dogs can jump onto the player and knock them down. However, the can be killed by pressing the melee button to break their necks, like Banzai attackers. They can be easily spotted due to their barking and growling. In Single Player mode, dogs appear as German Shepherds. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 dogs appear in levels such as Takedown and Contingency. However, in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they have to be stabbed instead of breaking their necks.
In Multiplayer, dogs only appear in Call of Duty: World at War. They can be called in when a teammate kills 7 enemies in a row without being killed himself. The dogs spawn and stay on the map for 60 seconds. The points and the kills caused by the dogs go to the player who called in the dogs. Friendly dogs appear as German Shepherds while enemy dogs appear as black Belgian Manalois. Dogs can be killed, but will respawn until the 60 second cycle has ended. Killing a dog gives the player 2-3 experience points or XP. A player can survive up to two lunges from a dog before they die. Dogs kill by lunging at the enemy and biting them. Dogs cannot attack players in tanks. They also rarely go in water and cannot climb ladders, but can jump very high, up to 6 feet.
In Multiplayer, depending on what team you are on, dogs will be called by a certain phrase. Also, the warning that the enemy has dogs is a certain phrase. Below are the phrases used:
-"Bring in the dogs!" -"Dogs, coming right at us!"
-"Unleash the dogs!" -"They have released the dogs!"
-"The dogs hunger for the flesh of our enemies!" -"The savages send dogs to do their work!"
-"Our hounds will tear them to shreds!" -"They send their hounds! But they too will find only death!"
