Dungeons & Dragons Edit
Giant spiders have been present in Dungeons & Dragons since the 1st Edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, released in 1977. They have been present in every version of the game released since then and are still present in the 3rd Edition, where they are classified as vermin.
