KTRV first signed on October 18, 1981. It was the only Independent television station in the region, with programming consisting primarily of syndicated talk shows and children's programming in the day and movies in the evening. In 1994, the station became a charter Fox affiliate.[1]

On February 6, 2009, KTRV added a MyNetworkTV and This TV affiliate on a new second digital subchannel known as "My Boise TV". KTRV-DT2 was added to Cable One on January 11, 2010.

NewscastsEdit

Nightly news open at 9.

In May 1999, the station formed a news department and began airing Fox 12 News at 9 every night. The success of the show prompted the launch of a weekday morning show, Fox 12 This Morning, in April 2007. This is simulcasted on KTRV-DT2. On January 11, 2010, a 10 p.m. weeknight newscast, Fox 12 News Edge at 10, was added; it competes with newscasts on the big three stations.

KTRV currently airs its local news in 16:9 high definition widescreen.
