Linda Black (Real name Linda Pettigrew) is an American born, Singapore based television host who is best known for hosting HBO Signature's 'Friday Picture House' and Discovery Channel Asia's 'Cathay Pacific on the Move'.
Linda was born in Harlingen, Texas to Bob and Linda Black, an American father with English and German heritage, and a Panamanian mother. She began her career as a model in 1992 when she was selected as one of ten finalists for the YM Magazine Cover Model Search that year. While being courted by scouts from Ford New York and Elite New York, she decided to return home and finish her high school education. She was then referred to the Kim Dawson Agency, located in Dallas Texas, where she is still represented to this day.
In 1994 her agents challenged her to audition for a local tv commercial. With no prior training, she won the part and thus her career in front of the moving camera began. But the call of the jetset beckoned and she was invited by different notable modeling agencies in the markets of Tokyo, Athens, Milan - where she walked for the Spring collections of 1997 - and London. Returning to America, she decided to try her luck with acting and in 2001 she was cast in her first lead in an independent feature production called, "Numbers", by Franse productions. In 2004 she was offered a modeling contract in Singapore, where she relocated and began a career in television hosting.
She met and married another model/tv host, Oli Pettigrew. They have one son born in 2008.
To date, Linda has been the host of Discovery Channel Asia's "Cathay Pacific on the Move", Channel News Asia's "Health@Desktop", and currently for HBO Signature's "Friday Night Picturehouse".
