Mirage is a cartoon character in the C.O.P.S. (Central Organization of Police Specialists) series from Hasbro which ran from 1988-1989. Elizabeth Hanna was the voice actor for Mirage.

Character Profile[]

Suzie "Mirage" Young is obviously an Asian-American, though her exact background is never made clear. Undercover operations and infiltration are Mirage's specialty, and she serves the C.O.P.S. team as a spy.

Mirage is only seen in the cartoon. She was never part of the toy series, nor the comics (Ironically, She was mentioned in issue 2 on this profile page, though.). In the comics, however, Big Boss has been known to erroneously address Nightshade as "Mirage", even though Nightshade is actually another, much different character.

Character Highlights[]

The Case of Berserko's Big Surprise[]

Mirage is able to work her magic in undercover operations in this episode when she disguises herself as one of Big Boss's trusted spies and is sent to help Berserko steal the Cornucopia Bridge as a birthday present for his uncle. Big Boss, upon hearing about the heist, is none too pleased, but his idiotic nephew assumes he's actually happy with his 'gift', and proceeds to use the world's largest balloon to haul the bridge up to Big Boss. However, Mirage, after Berserko won her trust and allowed her to help with the operations, switched the explosives Berserko is using with firecrackers and set them off, causing chaos and scattering the crooks everywhere. After Mirage revealed her true self, trying to arrest Berserko, he escaped, running all the way back to Big Boss' penthouse, where Big Boss angrily threw his birthday cake at him for his latest buffoonery.

The Case of The Crook With A Thousand Faces[]

Shifty, a shape-changing android, uses his shape-shifting abilities to elude capture when he robs a bank and escapes from Highway. Bulletproof reveals Shifty's involvement, however, by pointing to a security camera during the ensuing investigation.

Mirage obtains the tape and checks it for information, but Highway intervenes to show off his latest invention, The Vanishing Spray. He sprays a sample on Mirage's right arm, but rather than making her vanish as expected, the foul-smelling spray backfires. Mirage tells Highway that he'd better make himself vanish, while the getting is good.

Unnoticed by the C.O.P.S team, Shifty changes himself into Highway, enters the precinct and takes the real Highway's place. Just as Mirage figures out what's happening on the tape, Shifty kidnaps Mirage and steals the tape. Shifty then takes Mirage to an abandoned building, where Big Boss and Dr. Badvibes discuss a plan to use Shifty's abilities to rob the Empire Mint.

Back at the precinct, Bulletproof, Bowser, Blitz and Highway notice tha Mirage is missing from her chair at the terminal. As they wonder what happened to her, and Highway wonders if the vanishing spray really does work after all, Blitz's nose begin to detect the strong scent of Highway's ill-fated spray still lingering about.

Blitz follows the smell of the spray, with the C.O.P.S. following right behind him, all the way to the abandoned building where the C.O.P.S. then confront two henchmen that Big Boss has left to guard the captive Mirage. After Mirage tells her teammates of Big Boss' plan, the Empire Mint which becomes the C.O.P.S. team's next stop. At the Mint, Shifty steals a stamping print mold of a one dollar bill and hides it in his robotic body. He's able to fool the security guard by changing himself into George Washington and tries to sneak out of the mint with the stolen mold. When the C.O.P.S. arrive at the Mint, Shifty has to do some quick shape-shifting to try to escape from them. However, Blitz was able to see through the robot's disguise and chases him, with the C.O.P.S. following closely, to the city zoo.

At the zoo, Shifty tries to avoid capture by changing himself into the various animals he encounters, but a run-in with Bulletproof causes him to overload and render himself into a baby panda before shutting down. The C.O.P.S. retrieve the stolen stamp mold and bring it back to the mint. Knowing Shifty's criminal days are over, the C.O.P.S. decide to reprogram him so that he's wired permanently into his panda form. Afterward, Mirage drops the android off at the Empire City orphanage, where Shifty spends his time entertaining the children.
