Mortal Kombat Advance is a fighting game for the Game Boy Advance. It was practically a shrunken down version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The Mortal Kombat Advance roster included Cyrax, Ermac, Jade, Jax, Kabal, Kano, Kitana, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Mileena, Noob Saibot, Nightwolf, Rain, Reptile, Scorpion, Sektor, Shang Tsung, Sindel, Smoke (both the cyborg and human version), Sonya Blade, Kurtis Stryker, and Sub-Zero (both). The plot of this game was identical to that of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Gameplay[]

Though Mortal Kombat Advance is essentially a port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, it suffered from poorer gameplay than its predecessor. Players complained that the CPU difficulty had increased too dramatically from UMK3, allowing computer opponents to execute excessively long and difficult combos. In addition, the Game Boy Advance features two less buttons than were used in UMK3, which resulted in many special move button sequences being consolidated or changed.

The game was panned by critics and fans alike. Electronic Gaming Monthly editor Dan Hsu gave it the first "0" rating in the magazine's history. It currently has a rank of 32% at Game Rankings.
