The CBS Enforcer Music Collection is a television news music package distributed by Gari Communications. Included in the package are themes such as Enforcer, and KYW Enforcer (customized for CBS O&O KYW-TV in Philadelphia.)
The package, originally known as CBS Enforcer, was commissioned by Chicago's WBBM-TV in 1994. The package is based on the station's 1975 news theme, which in turn was based on a song called "Chicago" (or "This is My City, Chigago's My Town") by folk singer Tary Rebenar. WBBM has dropped the package twice (once in 1997 and once in 2001), only to reintroduce it a few years after each attempt. WBBM dropped The Enforcer in 2008 as they relocated to a new studio in downtown Chicago and used a new theme by In The Groove Music.
Gari Communications soon renamed the package Enforcer (and later, The Enforcer) in an attempt to market it to non-CBS stations. A few non-CBS stations did start using the package, such as KRIV/Fox 26 in Houston and WVIT/NBC 30 in Connecticut.
In 2005, Gari Communications acquired the rights to News in Focus, a news theme package by John Hegner which also featured the nine note musical signature. News in Focus has been marketed jointly with The Enforcer as The CBS Enforcer Music Collection. As of 2005, News In Focus is no longer with the collection. In 2006, WBBM commissioned New Generation 1 when they debuted their new graphics and its sister station WCBS commissioned New Generation 2 in 2007 when they debuted new graphics by Giant Octopus and started high definition broadcasts.
In 2010, WCBS commissioned New Generation 4 and with it, debuted new standardized graphics which would roll out to sister O&Os. After Warner/Chappell Music acquired Gari Media Group in 2015, the package was expanded to include CBS Enforcer V.2 and CBS Enforcer V.3, which was written in style of other news music packages created by 615 Music.
