The Strangers: Part II is an upcoming American horror thriller film. It will be the sequel to the 2008 film, The Strangers. Liv Tyler will be reprising her role as Kristen McKay.[1] Laurent Briet will be making his directorial debut. [2] The screenplay was written by Bryan Bertino, director of The Strangers. The film is slated for a 2011 release. The film is rumored to take place in a trailer park.[3] It is not likely that the sequel will be "inspired by true events" as the first film was.

It was reported in August of 2008 that Bryan Bertino would return to write the sequel, but that the director remained unknown.[4] Also in August of that year, Variety reported that Liv Tyler was expected to return, along with the film's villains. [5] Universal Studios sold Rogue Pictures to Relativity Media in a move which was deemed as being "bold"[6], which led to fears regarding the fates of Rogue Picture's future releases. Relativity "plans to enhance the horror releases they inherit from Rogue Pictures."[7] Bloody Disgusting reported in March of 2009 that Laurent Briet was in talks to direct The Strangers 2, which was written by Bryan Bertino, the director of the first film. [8] This was confirmed in July of the same year. [9]

The film will see the return of the three masked strangers as they head to an abandoned trailer park where they will continue their random psychpathic killing spree.[1]
